How smart was the Unabomber?

How smart was the Unabomber…
Ted Kaczynski was born on May 22, 1942, and passed away recently on June 10, 2023. He was also known as the Unabomber, and was a famous domestic terrorist known for being a mathematical genius who left the world of math to pursue a primitive lifestyle. During such a primitive lifestyle, Kaczynski would go on to construct bombs and be responsible for the lives of three individuals. He would write his notorious manifesto, Industrial Society and Its Future to critique industrialization.

This wasn’t his only notable quality, however. He was a mathematical prodigy who was a professor of mathematics at a tender age, and graduated from Harvard with high marks. He was able to avoid the FBI and being caught until his brother recognized his writings.

This begs the question, just how smart is Kaczynski? Although a popular figure given to Kaczynski is 167, we must say this number is likely misinterpreted. The score of 167 is likely from a childhood test that used a different scoring method. His more accurate IQ would be from when he was administered a professional IQ test named the Weschler’s Adult Intelligence Scale – Revised by a federal psychiatrist who determined his overall IQ to be 136, with a Performance Score of 124 and a Verbal Score of 138. What this means is that Kaczynski is moderately gifted. This means that Kaczynski would be 1 in 122 people for intelligence.
